Kiln Opening….

There was lots of excitement in the studio when we opened the kiln with all the glaze tests I’ve done – Having spent most of my pottery career doing one form of decoration (with a few sidebars!), it’s so rewarding to be heading down a new track.    I’ve spent the past few weeks doing research and trimming the number of glaze tests down to around 12.   But with 12 recipes the number of combinations is very exciting….so, now i have the rather daunting task of evaluating each test and the various amazing results….and making some decisions!

Here’s a shot of the kiln when we opened it yesterday….the pieces up top here were somewhat predictable cos i’m using glazes i had used in a small amount of my work, many years ago.   the actual tests were lower down in the kiln and i’ll do a post about them later on!
