New Item, and new glaze.

I get a lot of requests from customers who come to the studio or visit me at the market, some are pretty strange and i have to find a polite way of saying…no way!!!! But every so often a little gem appears.

A few months ago a lovely couple came to the studio. She was originally from Russia. They spent some time looking at my work and eventually bought a few pieces. Then she asked if i could make something special…..in the back of my mind I’m thinking…ok here we go again! But i was pleasantly surprised. She described this traditional dish from her home, which consisted of dumplings, meat, vegetables in a broth, and each guest has their own individual casserole dish with lid! I loved the idea…and so here they are!

We also decided to do them in the new glaze combination: Copper Ash with Apricot inside! I’m very happy with this new addition to my repertoire. We’ll have to wait and see what the folks at the market think next week!

I also want to show the lovely pieces Terry has been making lately! Using the handy-dandy extruder – he creates a variety of sizes of vases….

I’m also expanding the items in the copper ash/apricot combination: here is a cup, a latte (or soup bowl with handle)and a mug.

In other news, i was very happy to find some of my pottery being used by a local chef and displaying his mouth-watering creations on them. Here is a link to his blog.

Lovely work! Kinda reminds me of lidded Japanese bowls where the food is partly cooked in the bowl ready for serving
