A bit of this and that!

There just hasn’t been enough time to do a regular blog, so here’s a little taste of some of the goings on here at Big Hill Pottery.

In the middle of July, my sister Janette, and her husband Graham, came to visit, from Scotland. First time in over 36 years – so it was wonderful to share my life with her. we’ve seen each other many, many times over the past 36 years, just that it’s always me going over to Scotland. Here we are all dressed up to head out to a very exciting feast evening.

While they were here i made a dinner set for them. It was definitely nip and tuck time wise…we got the kiln unloaded the day they were flying off to visit Toronto….luckily everything turned out extremely well….even the antics of the silly folks unloading the kiln!

I think this is were i said i was impersonating Madonna after menopause!!!

Since then we’ve had many weekly visits to the Baddeck Farmer’s market and it is going very well. Lots of visitors up to the studio too! Today was an exceptional day for visitors….and i am kicking myself for not taking a photograph! An old VW camper van came rolling up the driveway, and i jokingly said, must be a couple of old hippies! well low and behold, it was a couple of my old friends from Muskoka, haven’t seen them in probably 7-8 years! what a great surprise it was. we headed for the back porch and a glass of wine to catch up with each other! Nothing like old buddies showing up out of the blue!

Glaze testing has started up again…..there are some rich and juicy possibilities….here are a few close up samples!

I’m very excited by some of the moments here….now i just have to try and decipher my rather sketchy notes and keep playing!

Finally, the garden is growing with great abundance, and my little flower patch is pleasing me to bits!

Well, that’s all she wrote this time round!

I love those glaze tests, especially of course the blue/green!
Btw, Madonna never looks like she’s having that much fun.
