I thought I’d to do a small post with some of the latest pieces that came out of the kiln the other day…..as i continue to experiment with these glazes, the more intrigued, and confused i become! I’ve never been terrible patient with glaze tests, and i know, it’s where the gold is…..but what i have tended to do lately is make notes as I’m applying the various glazes. But of course this isn’t an exact science to be sure – but it sure makes for a more heart thumping moment when i begin to lift the kiln lid!
Just as a quick recap! Over a year ago, I started exploring the new glazes put out by Steven Hill, where he has moved his cone 10 reduction glazes to work at cone 6 oxidation! His DVD is brilliant and well worth the few bucks. If you are interested in exploring some awesome juicy glazes, go to
and check out his experience. Altho he uses spraying equipment, I’m trying to find a way to work with these glazes using brushes and some pouring! Definitely a different look from his work, but that’s what i want!
The experiments continue, and I’m so happy to be receiving such a positive and wonderful reaction to these new pieces!
