I’m Linda Wright, the woman behind Big Hill Pottery’s Blog….I’ve been a full time potter for over 25 years, having spent most of that time in Muskoka, Ontario, where I raised my twin daughters and ran my initial business…Northshore Pottery…and loved living and working in such a splendid part of the country.

I came to Canada over 30 years ago, from Edinburgh Scotland.   I now find myself living in Nova Scotia…. Cape Breton Island to be precise, with my partner Terry Henderson.   We run a small tourist/retreat place, called Big Hill Retreat (see link for website) in a beautifully secluded part of the Island, close to the small town of Baddeck.   There are 3 stunning cabins, handbuilt by Terry, that are available for rent all year round.   In the spring, summer and fall visitors love to hike on and around the Cabot Trail, through the Highlands, or take a totally stunning drive around the Cabot Trail.   During the winter months people can enjoy the quiet and beauty of the snow covered trails around Big Hill where they can snowshoe, cross-country ski or just walk.  It really is a most wonderfully spacious place and we welcome visitors from all over the world.

My desire for this blog is to introduce my work, my passion and my creativity to others who might be interested.   At Big Hill Pottery, we have a showroom where you can view and purchase our work, the workshop is part of the same space and we love to share what is going on there with anyone who drops in.   I will also be posting upcoming workshops and classes at the studio….so stay tuned!

What wonderful colours – and this is the first time you used this approach ?

I hope your work continues to blossom in what sounds an idyllic spot.

We have just returned from Newcastle Upon Tyne – visiting Charles who started 7 years of education at Newcastle University to be a dentist ! It was cold, snowing and wet. I dont think I was made for that weather – or am I just a southern softy now !

    Thinking of you

    Hi Linda

Aluap here; just looked at your wonderfully idyllic log cabin retreats and they are WOW… I have subscribed to your journal so you can follow the link to mine. Hope this helps. I am massofhair by the way; i wanted to keep Blip for myself so use different names on there than i do in my blogs.

    The other blog is http://massofhair.blogspot.com

Am in the middle of sorting out how to use my different social networks. Think I will be using Blogger for paper craft and WordPress for jewellery and altered art; still thinking about it….. Your Blog is really great, the colours are eye catching and you do write a mean journal, lol. Card will be in post Thursday now as didn’t quite manage to get to the Post Office before it closed, sorry 🙂

HI Linda. So nice to have “caught” you after all of these years! And I’m glad that you continuing on with your beautiful pottery. I suppose you girls are all grown up now! My boys are 16 and 20 and doing very well. I’m in Toronto studying to become a Registered Massage Therapist after years of managing business matters from home.

    Are you still studying Buddhism?
